★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Do you love overpriced candy with a bad attitude on the side? If so, then this is the place for you! Today my parents (two women) took me into this store and we were treated like trash by the unpleasant woman behind the counter. It’s a super small place; so it’s very easy for her to suck all the air out of the room. The trending Dubai candy bar was selling for $22 a pop—so if you love unreasonable pricing, this is also definitely the place for you! Run—don’t walk—if you like to be rushed through the ordering process to pay for your overpriced candy. The candy apple I bought tasted old, but it was fine. Not $12 fine, but good enough. I will never return and I hope my review will open the eyes of the owners should they take the time to read my review. It was how my family was treated that really left the bad taste in my mouth.Let me walk you through my experience: My gay parents and I walk into the store, we are told that everything is sold by the piece and to let someone know when we need to be helped. Two women were working. The quieter girl who was helping us grab everything from the case as we picked it out very nice. The older, shorter, grouchier woman working alongside her was disgruntled to say the least. She was rushing us throughout our order as if she didn’t want us in the shop. She was impatient and seemed not to like us despite us being paying customers. After one of my mothers spent nearly $70 on a small bag of chocolate—supporting this undeserving small business—she noticed a decorative pumpkin container on the counter that was filled with candy. She went to reach inside and said “oh is this complementary?” only for the rude, short, older woman to snatch it away from her and say “No, there’s nothing in there. It’s just for decoration.” Now, my aunt caught a glimpse of the inside of the bucket, and saw that it was filled with chocolate coins. How disgusting and cheap for a small business to deny a customer a single chocolate coin and to lie and say that there was no candy in the bucket after that very woman was rushed through the ordering process and spent almost $70 with bad service to top it off??. I wonder what the criteria is to get one free chocolate coin at this stingy little shop?Definitely head over to the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in Long Branch NJ if you want to receive this one-of-a-kind garbage treatment alongside overpriced candy.
October 21 · Samantha SixMe and my family recently went into the store and were immediately greeted by a friendly smile and pleasant banter. They were giving out free samples (which were delicious) and never rushed us as we took a look at all the candies. The chocolates were delicious, and I’m surprised I haven’t been to the shop before. Great place to go for a quick sweet treat!
May 01 · Only SandsBy far this was one of the worst experiences i have come across as a person and customer. Me and my partner were having dinner in pier village and decided to stop in the chocolate factory due to loving their chocolate and also closely knowing the previous owner who passed away and her daughter who chose to sell it some time after. We felt it would be fun to go in experience a fond memory and enjoy the chocolate we enjoyed. Instead we were treated horribly, First and foremost we spent $50 on 6 pieces of chocolate and that was fine but not for the treatment we were given. while ordering we had asked if anyone had known the prior owner and how we knew them and even hope they were as successful owning the shop as they were. instead of a nice response to our inquiry, a gentlemen stated he was the new owner and then completely ignored us and disregarded that we were even customers at all or placing orders for candy in his store. At first i was taken back and continued to be polite and my partner who may be a little out spoken was kind and funny and even interacting with children in the shop. we were basically treated as if they couldn't be bothered and we were beneath them and ignored us, at first i thought maybe because i was Italian/Puerto Rican and my partner was African American or maybe because we were clearly a same sex couple because i could not fathom why we were being brushed aside, ignored and being spoken to as if we did not matter yet he was being nice and polite to the clearly white customers in the store. We continued to be polite and finished our purchase and chose to leave. Truly, I did not even want to purchase the chocolate but my partner insisted we pay and just leave. It was cold and our treatment as people and as a customer was as if we owed them something and common politeness was not welcomed in this store. The owner was cold and rude and unpleasant in every way, i will never shop in this store again nor recommend it to anyone, i had a more pleasant shopping experience in sugar pop across the plaza. For the money you pay, the service and treatment was cold and not worth it. I would never subject myself or anyone else to put themself through that when trying to support a local business. I have never felt and been treated so low by anyone. I will never set a foot near that store again and recommend that you find somewhere else to buy your chocolate treats unless you want to be treated as a peasant.
March 29 · Rocco Casatelliwas there yesterday. great chocolate love the butter crunch from them and the chocolate covered graham crackers. very friendly workers helped me. not cheap but very good quality
July 06 · joseph iommariniWe have been coming here for years and although I missed some of the flavors of apples from the old ownership the service is just as friendly. We love stopping in with our own kids now. Still think the s'more Apple should make a come back. Also love the holiday touches
