For New Yorkers with a serious sweet tooth, finding that perfect spot for a sugar fix is a must. Enter Lil Sweet Treat, a charming and vibrant candy store that has quickly become a local favorite in the West Village. This isn’t your average corner bodega; it’s a confectionery store and dessert shop dedicated to providing a unique and curated selection of candies, many of which are sourced from around the globe. The moment you step inside, you're greeted with a dazzling array of colors and shapes, making it a truly delightful experience. This article will serve as your comprehensive guide to this sweet gem, highlighting its unique offerings, convenient location, and what makes it a must-visit destination for anyone in New York City.
Lil Sweet Treat is more than just a place to buy candy; it's a small storefront with a big reputation, partly thanks to its viral presence on social media. The owner, Elly Ross, a former tech product manager, has brought a new level of curation and customer focus to the candy world, sourcing unique and delicious candies that are often hard to find. As one customer noted, the shop offers "great choices" at "good price," making it an excellent stop for a birthday gift or a personal indulgence. While the storefront is noted to be "very tight and crowded" at times, a testament to its popularity, the quality of the candy itself and the overall vibe of the place are what keep customers coming back. It’s a place that brings a "lil" extra sweetness to the everyday lives of New Yorkers, fulfilling the simple desire for a fun and delicious treat.
Lil Sweet Treat is conveniently located at 184 7th Ave S, New York, NY 10014, USA. This address places it right in the heart of the West Village, one of New York City's most charming and bustling neighborhoods. The location is easily accessible via the city's extensive subway system, with several lines within walking distance, making it a perfect spot for both neighborhood residents and those visiting from other parts of the city. Being in the West Village means it's surrounded by a variety of other shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions, allowing you to easily incorporate a visit into a day of exploring the area.
The store also prioritizes accessibility for its customers. It features a **wheelchair-accessible entrance**, ensuring that people with mobility challenges can easily enter and enjoy the sweet treats on offer. This commitment to inclusivity is a welcome feature in a city where every storefront can be a challenge. The shop is also noted for being ideal for a "quick visit," which is a perfect fit for the fast-paced life of a New Yorker. Whether you’re on your way home from work, running errands, or simply need a fast sugar fix, the layout and service options are designed for convenience.
Lil Sweet Treat offers a variety of services to make your candy-buying experience as enjoyable and convenient as possible.
- In-Store Shopping: The most popular service is the in-person, pick-and-mix experience. Customers can fill their own bags with a wide variety of globally sourced candies, allowing for a personalized mix tailored to their preferences. This is the core of the Lil Sweet Treat experience, as noted by customers who follow their journey on social media.
- Online Ordering: For those who cannot make it to the physical store, Lil Sweet Treat offers an online ordering system. While a customer review mentioned some limitations with the "create your own" mix option online, the business provides a selection of pre-selected mixes, such as sour or sweet bags of goodies, which are a great way to try a variety of their most popular items.
- Local Delivery: The business has partnered with popular delivery apps, including DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, and Postmates, to offer local delivery. This service is a major convenience, allowing customers to get their favorite candies delivered right to their doorstep for a cozy night in or a last-minute gift.
Lil Sweet Treat is defined by several key features that set it apart from other candy stores in New York.
- Globally Sourced Candies: A major highlight is the international selection of candies. The store imports unique treats from various countries, including Sweden, Spain, and Germany, providing a different experience from the typical American candy store. This focus on "what is something that you don't really see often, but is delicious at the same time" is a huge draw for candy connoisseurs.
- Curated Mixes: The store specializes in offering thoughtfully curated mixes. Whether you're looking for an all-sour bag, an all-sweet bag, or one of their signature mixes like "sweethearts + swifties," there's a pre-made option that's perfect for you. This is especially useful for those who want to try a variety of different flavors without having to pick each one individually.
- Dessert and Confectionery Focus: Beyond being a simple candy store, Lil Sweet Treat positions itself as a confectionery store and a dessert shop. This implies a higher level of quality and craftsmanship, and it's reflected in the thoughtful sourcing of their products.
- Social Media Presence: The business has garnered a significant following on platforms like TikTok by documenting its journey and engaging with customers. This transparency and community-building aspect make the brand feel more personal and relatable.

Choosing Lil Sweet Treat is a decision to embrace a truly unique and modern candy-buying experience. What makes it worth choosing is its dedication to bringing international and high-quality confections to a local audience. Instead of offering the same candies you can find at any grocery store, Lil Sweet Treat does the "heavy lifting of sourcing candy that is difficult to find otherwise," as the founder puts it. This means you get to discover new flavors and textures that will surprise and delight your palate.
The interactive, in-store experience, where you get to create your own mix, adds a layer of fun that’s perfect for a treat yourself moment or a group outing with friends. As one customer mentioned, it's an ideal spot to "get our friend a sweet little treat for her bday!" The ability to customize a gift or a personal bag of candy makes it a much more thoughtful choice than a generic box of chocolates.
Furthermore, the business's embrace of modern conveniences like online ordering and local delivery makes it incredibly accessible to the busy lifestyle of a New Yorker. Even with the minor frustrations mentioned by a customer regarding the online customization options, the fact that you can get these special candies delivered to your door is a huge plus. Lil Sweet Treat is not just selling candy; it's selling a fun, curated, and exclusive experience that New Yorkers will appreciate and enjoy.

August 22 · Alana W.DMy friends and I visited this location during the holidays. We had been following the process of the first location opening on TikTok and couldn’t have been more excited to experience it in person for the first time! Most of the candy we selected was really good! Some weren’t a big hit with all of us, especially the pear flavored bubs (had a weird artificial aftertaste). I remember being pretty disappointed this was the only kind of bub they had at the time because I was so excited to try those. I will say since it is such a small storefront, it does get very tight and crowded in there making it slightly challenging to look through all the options without getting in the way of others.Months later, with two new locations, and online ordering available I was hoping to get another chance. Unfortunately each time I try to place an online order, you either have to pick one of their pre-selected mixes or the create your own doesn’t include all of the options that would’ve been included in a pre-selected mix. It’s fairly frustrating because there are so many that I’d like to try, but I’m not willing to purchase multiple pre-selected mixes and a create-your-own mix just to try all of the candies I’d like to try. Please please please update online ordering to include ALL available options for creating your own mix!
June 16 · Brianna TWas so excited to finally try lil sweet treat after seeing it all over Tik Tok! Such a cute little spot and was easy to find because of the beautiful storefront. I went back a second time during my weekend trip to NYC! One day they were even having a Bobbi Brown pop up and we got 15% off our bags. I loved all the candy varieties from around the world!
May 06 · Lauren KelleyI’ve been to the Rockefeller location 3 times, it’s not that busy and it’s a little complicated to find. The candy selection is good, I just wish they had some of them as a standard offering. This isn’t cheap candy by any means, it’s worth the money though.
