Long Grove Confectionery Outlet & Chocolate Tour Introduce
Introduction / Overview
Long Grove Confectionery Outlet & Chocolate Tour is a well-known name for anyone in the northern Illinois region with a love for sweets. This business is a dual-purpose destination, serving as both a retail outlet for Long Grove's famous chocolates and a venue for a chocolate factory tour. The company has a long-standing history in the area, having been a part of the local landscape since 1975. The Buffalo Grove location is the main factory and outlet store, making it a key destination for fans of their products. This spot provides a unique opportunity to purchase a wide variety of chocolates, toffees, and other confections at discounted outlet prices. The essence of the store is its focus on premium quality treats, which are often the product of their meticulous production process. The enticing aroma of freshly made chocolate is a prominent feature, creating a sensory experience that draws in visitors. Whether you're a long-time fan of their hand-made chocolates or a first-time visitor, the outlet store offers a tempting array of options for a quick purchase or a larger haul.
In addition to the retail experience, the location is also home to a chocolate factory tour. The tour is intended to provide a glimpse into the art of chocolate making, with a video presentation and a view of the production area through windows. This element adds a layer of educational fun for those interested in the process behind their favorite sweets. However, it is important for visitors to note that the tours are a scheduled event and not always running, as live production is not guaranteed. While some customer experiences have been mixed regarding the tour's schedule and the demeanor of specific guides, the core mission of the tour is to share the company's rich history and the craftsmanship that goes into its products. For many, the highlight remains the extensive outlet store, with its wide selection of treats at refreshingly low prices, including discounted "oops" products from the factory floor.

What is worth choosing
Choosing Long Grove Confectionery Outlet is a decision that is primarily about the value and selection of high-quality chocolates. For residents of Illinois who appreciate a good deal and a wide variety of options, this is a must-visit destination. The outlet model means you can find their famous products—from chocolate-covered nuts to classic toffees—at a lower price point than at traditional retail stores. This makes it an ideal place to stock up on favorites for personal consumption or to purchase large quantities for events and holidays. The "oops" section is a particular highlight for many, offering slightly imperfect but equally delicious chocolates at even greater discounts. This aspect alone makes the trip to Buffalo Grove well worth the drive for many of the business's loyal customers. Beyond the price, the sheer volume of options ensures there is something for everyone.
While the chocolate tour has received mixed feedback regarding the experience and service, the opportunity to see a working factory and learn about the chocolate-making process is still a unique feature. It's important to set expectations, particularly for families with young children, by calling ahead and confirming tour availability and what to expect. However, even if the tour isn't a perfect fit for every visitor, the retail store itself is the main attraction. The convenience of in-store pickup and the overall accessibility of the location make the shopping experience seamless. Long Grove Confectionery is a long-standing institution in the Chicago area, and its outlet store provides a tangible link to its history and dedication to quality. If you are looking for a place to get great chocolate at a great price and are in the northern suburbs of Illinois, this outlet is a choice that offers both quality and value.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Went on a tour with adults and kids last week. It started 15 minutes late and was a long journey to drive here for all 20+ in our group. Jane was our tour guide, and she was very rude towards the adults and even yelled at 2 of the kids. Photos can not be taken inside the factory tour with the windows, but everywhere else is acceptable. The video they had was not working and when I went to take a photo in an area that was allowed, Jane asked me, which sounded more like she was accusing me of recording her. She did not have patience with the kids and seemed to get annoyed when the kids were asking questions. This is not a kids friendly place. The $5 per person tour fee was overpriced for what we got and how we were treated. I won't waste my time or money here again.
January 30 · Samantha BaldygaDrove 35-40 minutes away to take the tour. Every time I called to make a reservation, I received a recorded message.Decided to go anyway, but upon arriving was told there are only tours from 10am, 11am, and noon, I had arrived at 12:30pm.I told the staff that there was no mention if this on their website, and was given an excuse. Of course, I was very disappointed.
June 16 · Jane WorkingerKid in a candy store - yep. Fun place to visit and buy sweets. A true outlet store with a lot of candy making 'oops' at great discounted prices. Store staff was totally awesome giving all types of anecdotes and history. Make this a destination for a lazy day.
