★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Fran’s Chocolate Factory and Tasting Room in Georgetown is nestled inside the retrofitted Seattle Brewing and Malting Co. building—a place I’ve always heard was once home to the Rainier Brewery. Whether or not that’s true (someone really should confirm), the space carries the weight and charm of local history with confidence. Exposed brick, iron beams, and vintage tile are preserved beautifully, offering a respectful nod to the building’s industrial past, while thoughtful modern updates bring in a clean, refined aesthetic that feels at once functional and welcoming.Inside, the room is bright and airy, a truly pleasant space to linger in. The staff are knowledgeable and genuinely helpful—clearly proud of the chocolate they serve and happy to walk you through it. If you're curious, there’s a viewing room at the back where you can watch the chocolate-making process in action. It adds a touch of Wonka-like delight to the experience and is a great reminder that this is a working factory, not just a retail front. This isn’t a destination spot on its own—but if you're already in Georgetown, Fran’s is absolutely worth the stop. It’s a quiet pocket of indulgence amid the energy of Georgetown, and a solid reminder of how well Seattle blends history, craft, and good taste.Oh, I almost forgot, the chocolate is exceptional.
June 08 · jesse franklinIt's that time of year: with a week left before Easter I walked into the flagship store in Georgetown. It's a wonderful store experience. One is always graciously offered a taste of something dark or something milk chocolate. I opted for the dark almond cluster and loved it.But what I was looking for was not there. There's a large white chocolate egg that is decorated with filigree in past years. Of course this year the artists outdid themselves and it was decorated with cherry blossoms. Simply stunning. At $98 it is an absolutely special treat but I have a couple of little ones that matter a lot to me and I was prepared to throw down.Inside the egg are chicks and little eggs and rabbits all done in Chocolate. Unfortunately they were sold out at this location. So I opted to buy some of the smaller chocolate eggs for $18 that had two (white and dark chocolate egg) nestled inside. But the wonderful staff there, Brianna and Patrice, continue to troubleshoot with me when they realized I was really hoping there was an alternative. It's hard to accept a note when your heart is insistent that there is a yes...They decided to call around to see if perhaps some of the other stores still had the last egg despite notes that the company was out. Sure enough we found one the last remaining white egg at the University Village Fran’s. I called and left my credit card so that I could pick it up the next day. Without their willingness to persist with me I would not have found that solution. If you also have very special chocolate lovers I highly recommend the large egg. It's only comes once a year, even if it is spendy. I would so add: take a lesson from me and don't wait till the last week.I don't know if they have vegan chocolate options. I would hope they do but uncertain as of now.
March 24 · Mari KimWe did the tour and learned a lot especially the history of Frans famous salted caramel. We got to see the magic happen. We were also given a class on chocolate tasting from our knowledgeable host.
February 07 · Robert BuendiaMaybe if I had visited when everything was open would I give this more stars. Nothing was open inside, the cafe area, bathrooms were closed off and even the production lines were empty ( although to be fair it was on a weekend, so maybe only on the weekdays) and only a single employee was working inside. Their selection was fairly small for their flagship store and it just looked empty and disappointing. The building itself is beautiful though. I'd reccomend visiting the other well known chocolatiers in the Seattle area. Free parking is available in the back of the building.
May 28 · Randy LauThe absolute BEST peanut butter cup I've ever had. (ALL of their chocolates are divine, but that one in particular stood out for me personally.)
