For Connecticut residents, choosing Thorncrest Farm & Milk House Chocolates is an easy decision for several compelling reasons. The most significant factor is the unparalleled quality of their products. As one customer aptly puts it, their chocolates are "expensive but well worth the price" because they are "fresh and creamy." This high quality is directly linked to their unique production process, which starts with the milk from their own well-cared-for cows. This level of traceability and freshness is impossible to replicate in a large-scale operation and makes every bite a true indulgence. The fact that the chocolate is made in-house, using milk from a herd treated with respect, gives customers a sense of connection to their food that is rare and rewarding.
Beyond the product itself, the experience of visiting the farm is a major draw. It is an opportunity to not only buy a great dessert but also to learn about sustainable and ethical farming practices. The chance to "peak into the dairy barn and see the cows" makes the visit a fun and educational outing for all ages. It transforms a simple shopping trip into a memorable event. The cozy and welcoming atmosphere of the shop, along with the friendly employees, ensures that the customer service is as delightful as the chocolates themselves. They're allowed to free roam and are hormone free. There is a small parking lot and the chocolate shop is very intimate and cozy. The employees were friendly too. You're able to peak into the dairy barn and see the cows too. There are a variety of chocolatea to choose from; from truffles, chocolate bars, caramel, and more. They have won multiple awards for their chocolate. They also offer private tours and chocolate tastings. I purchased a box of 9 assorted chocolates and two white chocolate lollipops. The chocolates were expensive but worth it. They tasted fresh and creamy, up there with the best chocolates I've had. I highly recommend a visit!
August 10 · Kim V.Expensive, but well worth the price! Thorncrest is a great place to stop by for some fresh milk and delicious chocolate candy after a local hike. Next time we’ll visit between Thursday and Sunday to get up close with the cows. Do yourself a favor and indulge your taste buds. You’ll thank me later. Five tasty stars!
May 31 · Timothy MillerThorncrest farms brings a sustainable and family approach to making high quality chocolate, and caring for the cows and resources that they use to create these unique confections. The family at Thorncrest has spared no detail in how they manage and care for their cows on a daily basis to ensure they produce the best milk possible to support the ultimate product they produce. My family participated in the farm tour and chocolate tasting and were blown away by the care and love this family has for what they do. I would highly recommend the visit and I would highly recommend supporting this farm not just for the care they demonstrate, but for the quality of their product.
June 03 · Timothy CarmonAwesome place. Great chocolate. Beautiful place. The milk is great. You can call a head. The staff are really awesome
August 22 · Ray RobertsIt goes without saying that Thorncrest Farm and Milk House is about as authentic as you can get from farm to consumer. The quality ingredients attention to detail and high level of customer service and pride that the employees and owner take in this business truly stand out. On a recent visit we opted for a dark chocolate with habanero and salt which was delicious with just hint of spiciness. We also purchased a gallon of milk that we use to make some of the most delicious ice cream at home. The truffles and flavors were the highlight of the trip. It is well worth a drive to Thorncrest Farm and Milk House you won't be disappointed.
