Boyer Candy Co. Inc. Introduce
The Boyer Candy Factory Outlet, located in Altoona, Pennsylvania, is more than just a place to buy sweets—it's a destination that celebrates a cherished piece of American and local confectionery history. Known worldwide for the iconic Mallo Cup, this company has its roots firmly planted in the Keystone State, starting as a small, family-run business during the Great Depression. Brothers Bill and Bob Boyer began making and selling homemade fudge and nut raisin clusters door-to-door to support their family. Their entrepreneurial spirit and dedication quickly led them to expand, resulting in the creation of the Mallo Cup in 1936, one of the first cup-shaped candies in the United States, followed by the Peanut Butter Cup and the unique butterscotch-coated Smoothie Cup.
Today, the Boyer Candy Co. Inc. continues its legacy from its Altoona headquarters. The factory outlet serves as a popular candy store and a fantastic discount store, offering local residents and visitors alike an opportunity to purchase their favorite classic candies, as well as unique factory "rejects" with minor cosmetic flaws at significant savings. It’s a wonderful spot to connect with a piece of Pennsylvania's culinary heritage and satisfy any sweet tooth.
The company’s commitment to confectionery tradition was further cemented in 2018 when it acquired the beloved Clark Bar brand, another historic Pennsylvania candy, and successfully relaunched the iconic treat in 2020. This blending of classic, nostalgic brands makes the Altoona outlet a must-visit location for candy enthusiasts across Pennsylvania and beyond.
Beyond the delicious products, the outlet provides a warm, old-fashioned general store atmosphere, making the shopping experience enjoyable and nostalgic. Visitors can browse a variety of items, from bulk candy to unique Boyer-branded merchandise, all while learning about the company's fascinating history. Whether you're a long-time fan of the Mallo Cup's redeemable "Mallo Cup Money" or a curious newcomer, the Boyer Candy Factory Outlet promises a genuinely sweet experience.
The outlet’s proximity to the manufacturing facility—located right in the downtown district of Altoona—reinforces its local identity and charm. It stands as a testament to the enduring power of family business and local manufacturing in the region.
The Boyer Candy Factory Outlet is situated right in the heart of Altoona at 821 17th St, Altoona, PA 16601, USA. This central location makes it highly accessible for residents of Blair County and surrounding Pennsylvania communities, as well as visitors traveling through the region. It is conveniently located near other local points of interest, specifically across from the Altoona Railroaders Museum and the Station Mall Medical Center, making it an easy addition to a day trip in the area.

June 23 · Patricia CoughlinGreat factory store alot of items and you can buy things from clothes to candy to rejects from the candy line. If you like Mallo cups or Clark bars, great store and factory to visit.
March 01 · Damian Butler-BuccilliAlways a stop when visiting Altoona.Today I bought a 5lb box of Mallow Cups to send to my sister in law in Louisiana. She'll be thrilled! The store also had Clark bars in stock so I just had to take some home.2 associates were on hand today to offer assistance. So friendly and welcoming.
August 28 · Janice KunakI saved play money for YEARS to order two shirts. I ordered medium and they look like extra larges even though the tag reads medium. I tried to wash and dry and shrink them. I called the company and although the lady was very nice, there was no offer of compensation or exchange. Do they know how many candy bars you have to buy to get enough play money to get shirts. A LOT. And don't forget the cost of postage to mail the play money. I don't recommend saving for anything. Really disappointed.
August 13 · T CWhat a great little shop honoring the original Mallo Cup! Now you can experience even the Pittsburgh born Clark Bar! Yum! Buy a 5 lb box of assorted irregulars for $15.99.
