Blue Australian Boulder Opal and Sterling Silver Stacking Ring
The beautiful stone in this ring is a natural blue Australian boulder opal, cut in a freeform-shape cabochon. The stone is a gorgeous purple-blue, with small flecks of the brown matrix stone showing. The placement of the setting and shape of the band make this ring able to be stacked with other bands. What a perfect gift for the minimalist who still loves a flash of color!

Precious opal is known for its remarkable ability to diffract light, which results in rainbow-like colors that change with the angle of observation. The name opal was probably derived from the Greek word "opallus," which means to see a change in color. Later, the Latin word "opalus" evolved to mean precious stone. According to an old Australian Aboriginal legend, the Creator came down from the heavens on a rainbow and delivered a message of peace for all mankind. Stones that were near the place where His feet touched the ground suddenly came to life and began to sparkle. This was believed to be the birth of opal. Opal is the traditional birthstone for October.
